2019 Countywide Reappraisal
The Iredell County Assessor’s Office is in the process of conducting a countywide reappraisal of all real property in accordance with the provisions of NCGS 105-283 and 105-317. The effective date of the upcoming reappraisal is January 1, 2019. Iredell County is on a four (4) year reappraisal cycle, the last reappraisal had an effective date of January 1, 2015. The purpose of the countywide reappraisal is to equalize the tax burden among property owners and among all classes of property. The periodic reappraisal of real property equalizes the tax burden by ensuring all real property is assessed at the current, fair market value. The 2019 Reappraisal is being conducted by the County Assessor’s Office. 2019 Reappraisal Notices will be mailed in February 2019.
A required component of the reappraisal process, per NCGS 105-317, is the development, public notice and review, and adoption by the Board of County Commissioners (Board) of Uniform Schedules of Values, Standards and Rules (Schedules). Two Schedules are being developed, one to be used in appraising real property at its market value and one to be used in appraising property at its present-use value. Proposed Schedules are expected to be completed and available for public inspection, in the County Assessor’s Office and on this website, by mid-September 2018. Once adopted, the Schedules will be used to uniformly and equitably value all real property from 2019-2022. Required public notices will be published in local newspapers.
