Adventure-Based Programs

Additional off site adventure based programs, including Mobile Initiatives, canoeing, rock climbing, and orienteering may also be custom designed for your group. See program titles below or contact the Program Director for more information.

Archery



Want to learn more about archery we use in custom-designed programs for groups of up to 20 people. Our experienced staff can provide beginner programs to give your group a great learning experience about bows and archery safety.  


Canoeing


While the Outdoor Education Center does not offer on-site paddling, Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department does have 8 16-foot Discovery Old Town Canoes in which we use in custom-designed programs for groups of up to 14 people or you can sign up for one of our paddle meet ups. Our experienced staff can provide short, beginner programs on flat water or longer day trips to bodies of moving water with class 1 or 2 rapids. For more information regarding details including prices, locations, or requirements for a canoe program for your group, contact the Program Director.

Paddle Meet Ups

Join us at the lake and we will provide you with all you need for a great time on the water. Included are canoe, paddle, PFD, and canoe instruction. Our staff will be on site and on the lake with you for an enjoyable paddle experience. Cost is $10 per person. Price does not include transportation to the lake

Intro to Hiking

Looking to get into hiking?  Join us as we will cover some hiking basics tips and tricks then set out for a short hike to practice what you have learned. Intro to Hiking is a Free Program, but registration is required via the links below.

Intermediate Hike

Enjoy Hiking or joined us for one of our intro to
hiking programs and want to go a step further in
your abilities? Join us as we travel to South
Mountain State Park for a 4 mile round trip hike
up to a water fall on September 8th. This hike
includes elevation gain and some rocky terrain.
Trip departs at 8am cost is $10 and includes
