Sheriff Darren Campbell stated from Tuesday, May 16th 2017 to Wednesday, June 14th 2017 multiple reports were made to the Sheriff’s Office for vehicles being broken into in the Troutman and Mooresville area. Detectives were able to gather information from the various reports and door to door neighborhood canvassing that the suspect(s) were targeting mostly unlocked vehicles and stealing anything of value left in the unlocked vehicles. Home owners provided home surveillance video of a male suspect using a hooded jacket in various locations to help conceal his identity as he entered the vehicles. Detectives were able to find that a stolen credit card was used just hours after some of the break and enterings. Detectives then worked with the victim and the victims bank to get locations where the credit card was used. One location was at a convenience store in Charlotte. Once the business was advised of the incident they were happy to work with Detectives to get the video of the suspect that used the card.

The video footage showed a Jeep Renegade that was already listed as being involved in multiple car breaking and entering cases in the Mooresville area. The suspect, later identified as Kenneth Marcel Gregory was seen getting out of the Jeep Renegade and entering the business to make a purchase with the victim’s stolen credit card.   Gregory was charged with fifty-six(56) counts of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, twenty(20) counts Misdemeanor Larceny, five(5) counts larceny of a firearm, one(1) count  felony larceny, and one(1) count of larceny of a motor vehicle by Iredell Detectives. Gregory was arrested and served with the all charges and is being held under a $200,000.00 secured bond.
