The Iredell Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a local organization that promotes the wise use and management of our natural resources:

Mission Statement
The Iredell Soil and Water Conservation District encourages wise use and management of our natural resources through planning, leadership, technical expertise, education, and proper administration of conservation programs for the citizens of Iredell County. Furthermore, it is the goal of the Iredell Soil and Water Conservation District to:
- protect the environment
- promote and preserve
- the economic viability of agriculture, and
- encourage urban conservation practices within the county
Responsibilities
The District administers and supports local, state, and federal programs which improve water quality and reduce non-point source pollution on both agricultural and non-agricultural lands. In addition, the District provides educational programs for schools, civic groups, and other organizations.
The District works closely with:
NRCS provides soil conservation specialists to help landowners and land users. The Division provides financial, technical, and administrative support to the District.
