Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Friday March 17, 2023, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to 496 Tabor Road in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Deputies located a male victim in the yard suffering from a gunshot wound, but was conscious, alert, and able to communicate with Emergency Personnel.
The victim was quickly transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. Deputies secured the crime scene as Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrived and began processing the scene for evidence. During the course of the investigation, Detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene and collected several items of evidence. Once the victim was stabilized at the hospital, Detectives interviewed the victim whom indicated that his neighbor and cousin, Brady Wayne Gaither, Jr. was the person who shot him. The victim stated the shooting occurred after a verbal argument with Brady Wayne Gaiter, Jr. in the yard.
Based on the evidence and statements obtained during the investigation, Detective E. McNeely obtained an arrest warrant for Brady Wayne Gaither, Jr. for Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
On Wednesday morning March 22, 2023, Brandy Wayne Gaither Jr. was located and arrested at his residence by Deputy K. Robbins. Brady Wayne Gaiter, Jr. was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and brought before Magistrate D. Chambers where he was issued a 300,000.00 dollar secured bond.
