Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On March 6, 2022, Patrol Deputies and Narcotics Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to 104 Summertree Drive near Troutman in reference to a possible narcotics overdose.
Upon their arrival at the location, it was determined that the victim was deceased.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives began their investigation and attempted to identify any witnesses who had contact with the victim prior to his death.
During the investigation, the detectives examined cellular telephones and social media records.
The detectives soon identified Timothy Franklin Wing of 202 Planters Lane in Rowan County as the suspect who provided Fentanyl to the victim before his death.
An autopsy of the victim was conducted by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office. Toxicology results just returned to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office due to the extended wait time for toxicology results from the state lab, indicate the death was from a Fentanyl overdose.
Based on all of the evidence gathered throughout this investigation, detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Timothy Franklin Wing for Felony Overdose Death by Distribution. Wing also qualified for an enhancement of the Death by Distribution charge due to his past criminal history.
Wing was arrested on Friday, November 17, 2023, by members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Squad. Wing was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he received a 250,000.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate Callejas.
